The project, Capacity Building for Ensuring Safe Labour Migration (CABSLAM) was initiated by RMMRU from 01 September 2006. This three year project is supported by the Manusher Janno Foundation (MJF). The aim of this project is to increase the choice of the poor to use migration as a livelihood option and for reducing poverty. The project comprises of four major components:
(1) Capacity Building of Local Opinion Leaders and Journalists,
(2) Capacity Building of Bank Officials,
(3) Development of Pre-departure Orientation Training Module for Outgoing Migrant Workers and
(4) Media Advocacy on Safe Labour Migration Process. Activities of the project will be implemented at 8 upazilas of Chittagong, Comilla, Dhaka and Tangail districts (Two upazilas of each district).

RMMRU has selected partner NGOs who are working in above areas for successful implementation of the project. The main responsibilities of the partner NGOs will be to make the concerned communities aware about consequences of irregular migration, make the migration process easy for aspirant migrants and enhance remittance flows through community mobilisation. All these will be done through various activities like training, meeting and airing PSA, talk shows and dramas in radio and TV as well as pre-departure training for migrants.
